Renault has launched a concept car in early 2011 and then in the renault r-Space at – the Geneva Motor Show. The 4th generation Renault Scenic has very different proportions from the previous generation, even than its competitors. The longer wheelbase and shorter rear overhang than the previous generation look more pleasing to the eye. The wide shoulder line and the slightly sloping beltline at the back eliminate the boring MPV impression and give it a dynamic impression. the overall shape looks like a crossover with large fenders, but the short bonnet and sloping windshield retain the MPV silhouette. In order to support design changes and enhance its appearance, Renault has installed 20-inch wheels on all variants of the 2017 Renault Scenic.
These large wheels are wrapped with uniquely sized tires (195/55 r20) specially developed with Michelin and Continental for reduced energy consumption and better aerodynamic efficiency but at a cost equivalent to the 17-inch tires on the previous generation Renault Scenic. The 2017 Renault Scenic front cabin offers two driving themes only by changing the position of the center console. when the center console is in the most advanced position, it makes it look integrated with the dashboard so it gives the feeling of driving a saloon and still gets the advantage of a high MPV-style sitting position. If the position of the center console is moved to the most backward position, the front cabin will feel more open to the front passengers. The line that is connected between the door panels and the dashboard makes the 4th generation Scenic cabin look spacious even though the dashboard is not as attractive as the exterior and looks boring. The neat arrangement of the dashboard also looks more driver-centric than the previous generation with the instrument panel right in the driver’s line of sight. If the panoramic roof option is installed, the glass that is right on the roof will not be disturbed by the central reinforcing structure so that more light will enter the cabin.
The r-LINK 2 multimedia device with an 8.7-inch portrait screen complements the Renault Scenic 2017 dashboard for high end types. Its function is as a navigation tool and connectivity with mobile phones. various conveniences offered by this multimedia equipment including operation like a smartphone. In addition, Renault’s collaboration with BOSe produces Scenic audio quality that cannot be doubted. The 4th generation of Scenic also offers various practicalities to accommodate the needs of a family’s MPV. the trunk has a volume of 572 liters with an additional storage capacity of up to 63 liters obtained from the easy Life Drawer feature, center console and various other storage places. on the back there is a smart feature easy Life Folding tables which can be opened to store small items such as smartphones, tablets and others. the rear seats provide the same comfort as the front. Renault offers eight engine options and there are only two petrol engine options.
The dCi diesel engine option is capable of producing power ranging from 94 – 158 bhp. power will be channeled through a 6-speed manual transmission or an automatic equipped with a 6-speed or 7-speed efficient Dual Clutch (eDC). While the most powerful gasoline engine only produces 128 bhp with a 6-speed manual transmission. Hybrid Assist electric technology is also present for the dCi 110 diesel engine with 6-speed manual transmission. This system promises low fuel consumption and also driving pleasure because it is capable of producing powerful acceleration, especially at low revs. Renault Scenic 2017 is the only compact MPV that features an Active emergency braking system (AebS) with pedestrian detection as a safety standard. This feature allows the car to perform emergency braking when it detects pedestrians on the path to be traversed and is active at speeds of 7-60 kph. Various active and passive safety features have made this Compact MPV from Renault a five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, making it one of the safest C-MPVs for the whole family.
