The Bjorka Hacker Case

The latest hacking case by hacker Bjorka made the Ministry of Finance increase the BSSN budget by Rp. 624 billion. Bjorka made a scene and went viral on social media Twitter in the last few days, his actions had made the government nervous.

The reason is, Bjorka leaked the personal data of Indonesians and sold it to the crack forum site. It’s not just hacking and leaking Indonesian personal information. Bjorka also distributed data from government officials, even to data on Indonesia’s number one person, President Joko Widodo.

Bjorka’s actions prove how weak Indonesia’s cybersecurity system is and angered the Indonesian people over this fact. Based on this case, the Ministry of Finance led by Sri Mulyani Indrawati finally decided to increase the election budget for the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN).

The increase in the budget is intended to tighten the protection of personal data in public spaces against hacker attacks from the Internet. The 2023 National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) budget is estimated to reach around IDR 624.37 billion, an increase of IDR 70 billion from last year’s budget.

The budget includes a budget for the BSSN management support program of Rp.

During the meeting, PDIP politician Utut revealed that Indonesia needed to improve its cyber defense which is currently very weak.

“Indeed, what Lt. Gen. Hinsa Siburian said, we all understand. Yesterday we met Bjorka, we got stuck,” Utut said at the hearing. Quoted by Terkini.id from cnnindonesia.com

During the meeting, Utut also said that Bjorka’s hackers could be outsiders or even Indonesians themselves, according to the police’s view, who got the young man from Madiun who was suspected of being Bjorka’s accomplice.

“Where might Bjorka come from, Björk’s real name is usually Scandinavian, but who met the boy yesterday, Magelang? Oh, Madiun,” he said again. Quoted from Terkini.id from cnnindonesia.com

“Then it will be submitted to the DPR RI Budget Agency to be followed up in accordance with the provisions of the applicable laws and regulations,” said Utut. Quoted from Terkini.id from cnnindonesia.com

After being approved, the Head of BSSN Hinsa Siburian admitted that he had received a budget ceiling decision for his institution in the 2023 fiscal year, he was grateful for the support so far. According to him, the current conditions are a challenge for the BSSN itself.

“Thank you for the support so far, the results of this meeting, whatever the unilateral conditions, are indeed a challenge for BSSN,” he said. Quoted from Terkini.id from cnnindonesia.com

It is hoped that the additional budget will increase the level of data and cyber security in Indonesia so that there are no more hackers who can interfere with and steal the personal information of the Indonesian people.
